Watch the special edition of Imagine: ‘Dame Shirley Bassey…The Girl from Tiger Bay’ that aired last night on BBC1. The Dame gives a creative insight into the making of her fabulous new album ‘The Performance’ as well as taking us back to her early days in Tiger Bay.

This has to be THE best factual programme about Shirley ever broadcast.
It was so wonderful hearing the rehearsals, recording process, and how the songs evolved throughout the recordings. Fascinating.
Shirley was wonderfully professional adn vunerable at times which revealed a perfectionist still at the very peak of her profession.
I love the album, there is only one complaint, it leaves me wanting more!
So . . . what’s next?
Incredible and what a great song “The girl from tiger bay”,
Bassey still can say ” nobody does it better”.
What a challenge to bring out this wonderful cd at age 72!

i listen to her new cd every day,her voice and her style is awsome!defenetly the greatest female singer in the world.she reminds me of judy garland and dorothy squires,but she is a great artist in her own way.i’m from germany and pray every day that she will make a tour in europe.go on dame shirley!
What an amazing programme. It was so interesting to see all the tecnical stuff and to be permitted to see the ups as well as the downs in getting the final result which is fantastic of course. I so hope there is more to follow. I for one would be first in the queue to buy it. So inspiring. Dame Shirley go on give us more!

I am a new Shirley Bassey fan. I chanced upon clips of her by happenstance. I feel so fortunate to have done so at that point one month ago, right in time for the release of her new album and subsequent appearances. I have the new album now, I just got it on Monday. I live in the Midwest in the United States, so it took a while. But I am thrilled! I listen to it constantly. Amazingly enough I love ALL of the songs. That so rarely happens when I get a new album. But of course, it is my first Dame Shirley Bassey album. She is phenomenal!! When I saw this Imagine show on You Tube, I was brought to tears. I loved her so much before watching it,(though I have only know of her for a month of constant you tubing) but my love for her grew deeper still. I am so pleased that she let us in to her space. She is so full of courage and bravery for doing so. My hope is that she feels our love to extent that she gives to us. I must say too that I am just so very proud of her!!! Thank you
